Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card offers 2,500 ThankYou points – a $25 value – as a welcome bonus. Its big brother, the non-student Citi Rewards+® Card, offers the same rewards benefits and a slightly higher bonus.
The Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card was designed for students looking to build their credit. It’s ideal for those who want to earn rewards on groceries and gas. Plus, you’re guaranteed a minimum of 10 points on every purchase with the round-up benefit.
*The Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card is issued by CitiBank. Citi also offers great sign-up bonuses for their Checking/Savings accounts.

Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card 2,500 Bonus Points
Take advantage of the 2,500 ThankYou bonus points offer. It’s easy to earn. All you have to do is charge at least $500 to your card within the first 3 months of opening your account.
Here are some ideas on meeting the spending requirement:
What Are ThankYou Points Worth?
Other redemption options include:
- Travel booked through the ThankYou Travel Center
- Merchandise at Amazon.com or BestBuy.com
- Gift cards
- Statement credits
All have a per-point value of $0.01. This valuation is neither good nor bad. It’s what you would get for your points, on average, across different rewards cards. You could get more value from your points as explained with the non-student Rewards+ Card. But, it’s unlikely the case where you’d have a student card along with the Citi Prestige or Citi Premier card.
The Citi Rewards+℠ Student Card might be a good option if you’re a low spender looking to establish credit. Since higher rewards go towards groceries and gas, most of your expenses should also fall within these two categories.
There’s no annual fee, a guaranteed minimum of 10 points on every purchase and a 10% points rebate.
If you’re a moderate-to-big spender, you may want to see about qualifying for a non-student card instead.
