The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is offering 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards points after you spend $15,000 on qualifying purchases within your first 3 months of Card Membership. We value these 100k points at around $2,000 in value.
If you are looking to get rewarded for every day or standard business charges or you don’t travel all that much, then this card won’t be a good fit.
The Business Platinum Card from American Express is a premium credit card (unlike typical credit cards, the Card allows you to carry a balance for certain charges, but not all) with a premium annual fee of $595. See Rates & Fees, Terms Apply. With such a steep annual fee, the luxury travel benefits have to hold high value for you personally and you’ll have to use them often.

Here are some ideas to help meet the spending requirement for the bonus:
What Are Membership Rewards Points Worth?
Membership Rewards points are worth an average of $0.02 based on our valuations. This high valuation is mainly due to the potential to get great value with Membership Rewards travel partners. So, 100k Membership Rewards points could be worth up to $2,000 in value.
Taking the time to search through different scenarios with various travel partners will be the most rewarding way to use your points.
Choosing the simpler redemption option of booking travel through Amex will still get you 1 cent per point in value (e.g. 100k points = $1000).
The biggest concern about The Business Platinum Card from American Express is the annual fee. At $595, is it really worth it?
With a respectable rewards bonus and a significant number of travel perks, the answer to that questions is different to each business. If you use the travel benefits heavily, then you can earn significantly more even with the annual fee taken into account.
If you do not frequently travel for business or your business expenses are not considered to be high enough to benefit from this card, it might not be the best choice. What it also comes down to is whether you’ll appreciate and make use of the premium benefits offered with The Business Platinum Card.
For simply saving money on all of your everyday purchases, other card options will be a better fit.
What’s The Competition?
Given the high annual fee, The Business Platinum Card from American Express isn’t going to be the best choice for all business owners.
