I wrote about credit card choices for customers with bad credit or no credit at all here. Those were Secured Credit Cards, and they are pretty much for people who just can’t get approved for the traditional unsecured credit cards that we’re all used to dealing with.
Keep in mind though, if you’re a student or if you’ve started on the right track to building a credit profile, you may have better options.
While they are easier to obtain and do help to build your credit, Secured Credit Cards don’t offer any rewards and you’ll have to pay the annual fee. There are credit card options for people that are still in the middle – ones that do offer rewards, yet don’t require that you have Good or Excellent credit.
