How You Can Earn Bonuses From U.S. Bank
Banks, including U.S. Bank, are continually devising strategies to increase their customer base.
One such widely employed method is offering attractive bonuses for new account openings, subject to the fulfillment of certain criteria. These offers create a mutually beneficial situation for both the bank and the customer.
The exact prerequisites for availing these sign-up bonuses differ depending on the type of account you are opening:
- For a U.S. Bank personal checking account, setting up a direct deposit is typically required to qualify for a bonus.
- If you’re opening a business checking account, you need to deposit a specific amount of money into the new account and then perform 10 qualifying transactions. These transactions could include debit card purchases, ACH credits, or bill payments to earn your welcome bonus from U.S. Bank.
- U.S. Bank also provides promotional offers to new credit card holders. However, to claim this bonus, you usually need to spend a predetermined amount within the first few months of receiving your new card.
Remember, like all promotional offers, the U.S. Bank sign-up bonuses are subject to change. Deals may expire, criteria might be adjusted, and bonus amounts could vary. Keep checking back to stay updated with the best offers here.

Are U.S. Bank Bonuses Worth It?
Indeed, U.S. Bank bonuses can be a great deal. They often provide some of the most generous bonuses available, with fairly achievable conditions.
Consider the following aspects:
- Most personal checking account offers necessitate setting up a direct deposit. Previously, these offers were tiered, enabling more people to benefit as the reward amount would increase with higher direct deposit amounts. However, the most recent offer has one set checking bonus.
- If you prefer a large national bank that doesn’t mandate a direct deposit for a bonus, you might want to explore promotions from Citibank, which typically have a balance requirement instead.
- You can see more bank offers that don’t require direct deposit here.
Nonetheless, it’s crucial to remember that bonuses should only be seen as additional benefits, not the primary reason for selecting a new account. If U.S. Bank’s convenience or customer service aligns with your needs, don’t let a one-time bonus be the decisive factor.

Thanks for the very detailed information on how to have monthly fee waived, fine print and non- eligibility when one already has the checking account. You might want to add that the monthly fee is waived if savings account is opened along with checking account.
For the checking account bonus, does it mean two or more $2,000 direct deposits or $2,000 in total over 60 days meaning I can have 4 $500 direct deposits in 60 days and meet the requirement?
Yes, you can!
I applied online for a platinum checking account and got instant rejection due to my residency in Texas state. This is very odd.
Applied online for Easy Checking account. Immediately rejected upon application submission, probably for Virginia residency. Explanation letter purportedly forthcoming.
Yeah. You need to establish some relationship with the USB first if you don’t live in a state that has branch office. Open a brokerage account or credit card first.
Not available in Florida.
Thanks for the info!
The US Bank offer is NOT available in TX. I tried it twice and talked to them. They have no footprint and won’t let you have a checking account until you have mortgage, credit card, or an auto loan.
Hi, thank you for your informative posts. I subscribed! Some of these banks require that you get their promo codes in the mail and say you can’t get on their mailing list because it’s computer generated. Do you know how to get non their lists? Thanks again
Re offer code KW588V62. An offer was sent to my husband, William Kidwell Jr for $250 to open a USBank account. He passed away in 2017. I, Beverly J Kidwell opened an account with USBank in February this year and have all my direct deposits changed, am I eligible. Account number is 151707369170 at the Kingman, AZ branch.
Have tried the bonus link. Was asked to enter a zip code only to get to a screen saying that the promotion is not offered in my region (tried the Twin Cities Metro Area, MN, and San Francisco Bay Area, CA).
Ah, looks like it may just be for WI residents!
U.S. Bank just agreed to a $613 Million fine for Anti Money Laundering violations. The fine came about because of the Bank’s dealings with an illegal Payday lender.
Any info on how long. you must keep the account open to keep the $200 bonus?
Great post! Have nice day ! 🙂
Hello,
Where do enter the my email address to receive your promotion code?
Thanks,
9/7/16 I just called U.S. Bank about the $150 Checking Bonus 1. Mike, 3400 W. 38, Denver Branch, knew nothing about the bonus. 2. He referred me to a Denver Customer “Service” number where Abby also knew nothing. Normal business practice is a company can answer a potential customer’s questions.
: / Honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised. I definitely think we keep up with these offers more than most random bank customer service reps. Best bet is to print out a promo code and bring it into a branch or apply online with the promo code.
