When I sign up for a service like internet or cable, I try to get the best rates available. But as time passes, prices change. A welcome promotion may come to an end, raising my monthly bill cost. Or, the provider may offer new, better deals. The good news is, I don’t have to keep paying the rate I initially signed up for.
Launched in 2015 by entrepreneur Steve McKean and backed by investor Mark Cuban, Billshark is a service that contacts providers and negotiates a cheaper contract on your behalf. They’ll also cancel unwanted subscriptions and compare insurance rates for you. According to Billshark, the company has an 85% to 90% success rate for subscription-based services like cable television, wireless phone, satellite television and radio, internet and home security, saving customers an average of $300 to $500. Let’s take a closer look at Billshark below.

Billshark is a bill negotiation and cancellation service, making it easier for you to save money on bills. Simply sign up, select which services you want to negotiate or cancel, and provide your account information. Then, they’ll do all the work.
This is Billshark’s bread and butter. After a successful negotiation, they’ll call or email you to let you know how much you saved, when those savings will go into effect, and line item details. Billshark charges 40% of the amount you saved. If they can’t get you a better a deal, the service costs nothing.
According to Billshark, you can save an estimated $324/year on a cable bundle that’s costing you $150/month.
Billshark will also cancel a subscription on your behalf for a flat fee of $9. They might even get you a refund for unused services.
Insurance Rate Check
Home and auto rates constantly fluctuate, even if you haven’t changed coverage or made claims. Billshark’s free insurance rate checker lets you compare your current insurance with other providers. This tool won’t help you make the switch, but knowing how much you could be saving might help you take action.
Lower Business Bills
Billshark isn’t just for personal bills. They provide a dedicated service for business owners, helping to save on company bills like telecom, waste management, payroll, SaaS subscriptions and other business service providers.
As we mentioned before, Billshark charges a 40% negotiation fee. So if Billshark saves you $100, you’ll pay them $40 and save a total of $60. Their negotiation fee applies to one- and two-year contracts, which means Billshark won’t continuously charge you for your savings year upon year.
In the event that Billshark saves you a ton of money, but you aren’t able to pay their entire fee, they have a two- or six-month payment plan available for a one-time fee of $9.
For Billshark’s subscription cancellation service, the fee is $9. The insurance comparison service is free to use.
Billshark takes the effort out of negotiating your bills, cancelling your subscriptions and comparing insurance rates. They’re a good fit if you’re looking to cut your monthly bills, but you don’t have the time, skills or confidence to negotiate them yourself.
