Update 12/4/22: Capital One Venture X cardholders can no longer access non-lounge experiences, such as restaurants, retail shops, and spas, with their Priority Pass. Not a big deal but read about it here.
Hanging out in airports is not fun. The food is way overpriced. You’ve got to fight for a spot to charge your phone. And those chairs were designed by a sadist. That’s where Priority Pass comes into play.
Priority Pass is a membership that opens the doors to over 1,300 airport lounges, making it easy for you to access a quiet, chill spot to rest in between flights or catch up on work.

Priority Pass Select Membership
You can’t buy a Priority Pass Select membership. Instead, it’s included with select premium travel credit cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and The Platinum Card® from American Express.
Priority Pass Select is most similar to the Priority Prestige tier. There’s no additional per visit fee for members. Depending on the card, additional guests are free also. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® and The Platinum Card from American Express both allow 2 free accompanying additional guests.
Our favorite credit card that comes with complimentary Priority Pass Select membership is the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. Besides Priority Pass Select, this luxury travel card comes with a great welcome bonus. You’ll earn 3x points on travel and dining and 1x points for all other purchases. Other extras include a $300 annual travel credit, Global Entry or TSA Pre✓ fee credit and no foreign transaction fees.
Priority Pass Features
As long as you’re a member of Priority Pass, you can enter any one of its lounges. It doesn’t matter which airline you’re flying. All you need is a same-day boarding pass and your Priority Pass card (digital card on your smartphone is accepted also).
Priority Pass features vary from lounge to lounge. At the very least, you’ll find free snacks, drinks and alcohol, comfy tables and chairs, plenty of charging outlets, a dedicated WiFi network, newspapers and magazines.
In general, international lounges offer more premium amenities than domestic ones. Food options are considerably better (complete meal buffet options). Some even have conference rooms, showers and spas.

Besides lounges, Priority Pass members have access to Minute Suites, a private retreat post-security to nap, relax or work.

Members can rent Minute Suites at a discounted rate of $28 per hour, and a 30-minute shower costs an additional $20.
Priority Pass members can also take advantage of sleep pods at Dubai International Airport, spa treatments at Aspire in Heathrow (extra fee), and more.
Priority Pass Drawbacks
But, alas, Priority Pass is not all rainbows and unicorns. Here are a couple things Priority Pass could improve upon:
Limited domestic footprint. You won’t find many Priority Pass lounges within the United States. Instead, they’re heavily concentrated in Western Europe and North Asia.
Overcapacity. A victim of its own popularity, Priority Pass has now set limits on how many people can enter certain lounges at a given time. Back in the day, members were allowed unlimited guests. Now, the maximum is two or three guests, depending on your membership.
Bottom Line
Priority Pass unlocks worldwide lounge access with a range of membership plans to fit any frequency of travel or budget. Take advantage of the Priority Pass discounts and promotions throughout the year. If you travel, especially internationally, it might be a good idea to consider a premium travel credit card with Priority Pass included.
