Earning Enrich Points

Compared to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, Delta SkyMiles and other frequent flyer programs based in the United States, earning Enrich Points is not an easy feat for Americans. That said, it’s not impossible. Here are all the ways you can stock up on Enrich Points:

Transfer Partners

The easiest way to earn Enrich Points without flying is through transfer partners. Citi ThankYou Rewards, Hilton Honors and IHG Rewards Club members can convert their points to Enrich at the following ratios:

  • 10,000 Hilton Points = 1,200 Enrich Points
  • 10,000 IHG Points = 2,000 Enrich Points
  • 10,000 Citi ThankYou Points = 10,000 Enrich Points

Below are a few recommended credit cards in those programs with sign-up bonuses that you can transfer to Enrich:

  • Hilton Honors American Express Surpassยฎ Card
  • Hilton Honors American Express
  • IHGยฎ Rewards Club Premier Credit Card
  • Citi Rewards+ Card

This Hilton credit card earns 7 Hilton Honors points per $1 spent directly with a hotel or resort within the Hilton Honors portfolio of brands. U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas station spending earns 5 Hilton Honors points per dollar. All other purchases will earn 3 Hilton Honors points per dollar.

Other features include no foreign transaction fees and free Hilton Honors Silver Status. This card has no annual fee. See Rates & Fees, Terms Apply.

IHGยฎ REWARDS CLUB PREMIER CREDIT CARD

This card earns up to 26 points total per $1 spent when you stay at an IHG hotel. Earn 5 points per $1 spent on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. Earn 3 points per $1 spent on all other purchases.

After each account anniversary year you’ll get a Free Night at eligible IHG hotels worldwide. Redeem points for any stay of 4 or more nights and you get a free reward night.

Also, get a Global Entry or TSA Preโœ“ยฎ Fee Credit of up to $100 every 4 years as reimbursement for the application fee charged to your card.

Get automatic Platinum Elite status with this card. The annual fee is $89 a year.

Card Review

CITI REWARDS+ CARD

The Citi Rewards+ Card offers 15,000 ThankYou Points after you make at least $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. These points are worth almost $188 in airfare booked through Citi.

The card provides 2 points for every $1 spent at supermarkets and gas stations (on up to $6,000 in purchases per year) and 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases.

Rewards are rounded up to the nearest 10 points on every purchase, and members get 10% points back for the first 100,000 points you redeem per year. That’s up to 10,000 points (worth $125 in airfare booked through Citi).

Citi Rewards+ does not have an annual fee.

Flights

Earn Enrich Points when you fly with Malaysia Airlines and the following airline partners:

  • Air France
  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Emirates
  • Etihad Airways
  • Finnair
  • Firefly
  • Iberia
  • Japan Airlines
  • KLM
  • LATAM Airlines
  • MASwings
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Royal Jordanian
  • SriLankan Airlines

For flights with Malaysia Airlines, accrual rate depends on the value of the paid ticket. The baseline rate is 1 Enrich Point for every 1 MYR, plus your status points bonus.

Partner airline flights earn Enrich Points based on distance flown, fare class, and status.

Other Ways

You can also earn Enrich Points by:

  • Booking accommodation via Enrich Hotels, Agoda, or Trip.com.
  • Booking accommodation directly with Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Langham Hospitality Group, Radisson Hotel Group, Worldhotels, Melia Hotels & Resorts, or Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.
  • Booking a rental car with Avis, Budget, Hertz, or Sixt.
  • Shopping online at Akruu.

There are even more ways to rack up on Enrich Points, but they’re not very relevant to U.S. residents.

Redeeming Enrich Points

Most Enrich members use their points for award flights with Malaysia and partner airlines. The program utilizes a region-based award chart for Malaysia Airlines flights, and a zone-based award chart for partner flights. Have a look at the Malaysia Airlines award chart in detail here, and the partner award chart here.

You can also redeem your Enrich Points for:

  • Class upgrades, excess baggage and in-flight shopping.
  • Vouchers to access Golden Lounge or The Lounge at SkyPark.
  • Hotel stays via Enrich Hotels.

Sure, Enrich provides other redemption options, but they’re not very pertinent to Americans.

Enrich Points Expiration

Enrich Points expire at the end of the month, plus an additional three years. For example, Enrich Points credited to your account on June 21, 2021 will expire on June 30, 2024.

As we mentioned before, Enrich Platinum members’ points do not expire.

Enrich Tips & Tricks

Promotions. Enrich has a few interesting features, including:

  • 1,000 bonus points for signing up.
  • 15% discount for booking Malaysia Airlines online.
  • Points + Cash awards starting at 1,000 points.
  • Discounted companion awards for business and first class.

Malaysia Airlines also offers limited-time promos where you can earn additional Enrich Miles. For the latest deals, go to the Enrich News & Promotions page.

Enrich Junior. This program provides travel benefits and lifestyle privileges to kids between 2 to 12 years of age. Perks include priority benefits, special invites to events, exclusive kids merchandise, and a 25% child discount. Sign up with the promo code “ENRJR” to get 300 welcome Enrich Points.

Routing Rules. The Enrich frequent flyer program allows for one-way redemptions and free stopovers. You’ll find excellent award rates for short flights, and good value for multi-carrier itineraries on Oneworld carriers in premium classes. Plus Enrich charges low change fees and fuel surcharges.

Bottom Line

Malaysia Airlines Enrich isn’t the most valuable frequent flyer program out there, but it does have some great features. Transfer partners are at the top of the list, followed by plenty of deals and promotions to take advantage of. That said, we would be happier if Malaysia Airlines provided more ways to earn and burn Enrich Points.

If you often fly to Asia, you might want to consider ANA, Asiana and Singapore Airlines as well.
