The Brex Card for Startups is designed to cater to new businesses with significant cash flow and high growth potential, and requiring no personal guarantee. There’s a welcome offer for 50,000 bonus points when you spend at least $1,000 with the card. We value these 50k points at up to $850 (more on this later). See other card bonuses here.
The no-annual-fee charge card comes with generous bonuses, as well as over $50,000-worth of partner deals and discounts. But to make the most out of Brex Card for Startups, you’ll need to make it your exclusive corporate card. Otherwise, you’ll get much more value out of other business cards, like the American Express® Business Gold Card, the Capital One Spark Cash for Business, or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card.
Brex offers several different corporate cards, each designed for a different type of business. This review focuses on Brex Card for Startups, but other products include Brex Card for Ecommerce, Brex Card for Life Sciences and Brex Card for Late-Stage & Enterprise.
50,000 Bonus Brex Rewards Points
Take advantage of the Brex Card’s 50,000 sign-up bonus points offer (worth up to $850). You’ll need to spend $1,000 or more on your card to qualify. Unlike other rewards cards, there’s no spending deadline to worry about.
What Are Brex Rewards Points Worth?
Unlike most rewards cards, Brex Rewards points have a flat value of $0.01 each, regardless of how you redeem them – statement credits or travel via the Brex portal.
If you’re a member of the Brex Exclusive Rewards program, your points get a boosted value of $0.017 each, making the card’s 50,000-point welcome bonus worth $850.
You can also transfer to one of Brex’s airline partners. If you want the most bang for your buck, this process can be worthwhile. If not, you can stick with the card’s more straightforward redemptions.
Brex lets you transfer your points to seven frequent flier programs:
Brex Card For Startups Exclusive Rewards
If you make Brex Card for Startups your only business card, you’ll get elevated rewards rates:
- 7x points on rideshares, like Uber, Lyft, taxis and more.
- 4x points on flights & hotel stays via Brex Travel.
- 3x points on dining and coffee shops.
- 2x points on recurring software subscriptions, like Salesforce, GitHub, Slack and more.
- 1x points on everything else.
Brex Exclusive Rewards customers can transfer to partner airlines at a 1:1 ratio. Otherwise, you’re looking at transferring at a ratio of 1.5 Brex points to one airline mile.
All startups will automatically have Brex Exclusive Rewards for the first two months. After that, you’ll earn 1x points on all purchases if you have other business cards.
If you aren’t able or willing to have a line of business credit in your name, you don’t have a lot of low-cost corporate card options that also carry valuable benefits like the Brex Card for Startups. It’s ideal for well-funded businesses with owners who might have thin credit histories.
However, we recommend looking at other options if you’re not prepared to commit to using the Brex Card exclusively, or if your startup does not carry the kind of bank account balance that Brex requires.
