JetBlue TrueBlue doesn’t offer a lot of ways to use your points – compared to American Airlines AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles or United Airlines MileagePlus – but the program still offers some valuable redemption options. In fact, TrueBlue points will rarely redeem for less than $0.01 per point.

SOUTHWEST RAPID REWARDS® PREMIER CREDIT CARD
Earn 75,000 points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. We value each Southwest point at an average 1.5 cents a piece, or $750 for the 50,000 points. The best value will be redemption for flights. As with most other airline rewards cards, point value can vary a lot depending on flight time, destination, etc.
You’ll also get 6,000 bonus points after your Cardmember anniversary.
Earn 3 points for every $1 spent on Southwest Airline purchases. Also, earn 2 points for every $1 spent on local transit and commuting, including rideshare, and on internet, cable, phone services, and select streaming. You’ll get 1 point for every $1 on all other purchases. You’ll get 1 point for every $1 on all other purchases.
There are no foreign transaction fees with this card. Unfortunately, the $99 annual fee isn’t waived for the first year.
JetBlue TrueBlue Important Rules & Fees
Before we get into the best ways to use your TrueBlue points, let’s cover some important redemption details:
- You can redeem your points on any JetBlue flight with no blackout dates.
- Taxes and fees apply to award flights and will vary based on your departure and destination cities.
- Families can pool TrueBlue points into a family account.
JetBlue Flights
Like Southwest Rapid Rewards, any seat on any JetBlue flight is up for grabs. As long as you can book the ticket with cash, you’ll be able to also book it with points. As we mentioned before, there are no blackout dates.
Award pricing is cost-based, so more expensive flights will require more TrueBlue points. With this award scheme, there isn’t much strategizing you can do to squeeze the most value out of your rewards. The best advice we can give you is to make sure you’re getting at least $0.013 for each point you spend. That’s what we currently value TrueBlue points to be worth.
You can extend the value of your points even further if you have the JetBlue Plus Card. Not only will you earn bonus points and enjoy one free checked bag for you and up to three travel companions, you’ll also receive 10% of your points back when you redeem for JetBlue flights.
Hawaiian Airlines Flights
JetBlue has a few airline partners, but the only one you can redeem TrueBlue points with is Hawaiian Airlines. Instead of a cost-based model, award pricing for Hawaiian flights is region-based:
Be sure to check the Hawaiian Airlines website for any changes to their award pricing but as you can see, there is potential to squeeze some value out of Hawaiian awards. We especially dig Business Class flights from the West Coast to Hawaii for just 45,000 TrueBlue points each way. Unfortunately, there’s no way to book these partner awards online, so you’ll have to call 1-800-JETBLUE and talk to a phone representative.
JetBlue Seat Upgrades
If you have TrueBlue Mosaic status, you can use your points to upgrade to Even More Space seats with much more legroom than most domestic First Class seats. The exact cost will vary based on the cash price of the seat upgrade but this a known way to extract additional value from your TrueBlue points.
JetBlue Vacations
JetBlue Vacations is a booking portal that allows you to search for flight and hotel room packages at discounted prices. Although you can’t use your TrueBlue points for an entire JetBlue Vacations package, you can redeem points for discounts on one.
It depends on the destination and your hotel choice, but the discounted amount usually yields a value far above the average of $0.013 per point. Keep in mind, you likely won’t earn hotel points on your JetBlue Vacations stay.
Magazine Subscriptions
Weirdly enough, purchasing magazine subscriptions using TrueBlue points can give you incredible value. At the time of publishing, you can redeem 3 points for $1 towards redeeming for a magazine subscription at Magazines.com. That is a $0.33 per point value, far exceeding the $0.013 average value for the TrueBlue program.
