Earnin Features

Earnin provides paycheck cash advances, similar to payday loans. The service uses your next paycheck as collateral to access funds before payday. Borrow any amount between $100 and $500, and repay on your next payday. Other notable features include:
- Balance Shield helps prevent overdrafts. Earnin will send an amount up to $100 to your bank account when the balance starts to get low.
- Lightning Speed lets you access your money the same day of request, even on weekends and holidays. Otherwise, you’ll receive your money within one or two business days.
According to Earnin, 66% of their customers were better able to pay their bills on time and saved up to $58 per month on average on overdraft fees.
Earnin Eligibility
Earnin does not require a credit check, so there is no minimum credit score required. Instead, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
- A direct deposit to a checking account set up through your employer.
- A consistent pay period (weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly).
- Either work at the same location each day (including those who work from home) or use online timesheets to track your hours.
Please note, Uber and Earnin have a partnership that allows drivers to use the app. Normally, gig economy workers cannot access early payout.
Bottom Line
If you’re someone who occasionally could use some extra money before your next paycheck, and you meet the eligibility requirements, Earnin is a solid option. The paycheck advance app is definitely the better and cheaper choice compared to payday loans.
Dave is another app that provides cash advances and helps to avoid overdraft fees. They’re currently offering a $5 welcome bonus.
