The LATAM Visa Signature Card has an offer for 20,000 bonus Multiplus points when you make your first card purchase. We value these points to be worth around $300. With an annual fee of $75, the bonus potentially covers the card’s cost for 4 years.
LATAM is the largest airline in South America, created from the 2015 merger of LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines, with hubs in four major South American cities: Santiago, Lima, Sao Paulo and Bogota. The former frequent flyer program LATAM Pass has changed to Multiplus.
The LATAM Visa Signature card isn’t the most popular airline-branded card on the market. But for those that frequently travel to South America, it could be a rewarding option.
LATAM Visa Signature offers 2X points on LATAM airfare and 1X points for all other purchases. You’ll also get 4,000 bonus points every year after you renew your membership and a few other LATAM-related benefits.
If the $75 annual fee doesn’t make sense for your needs, consider the LATAM Visa instead. It comes with fewer perks, but it also costs less.
*The LATAM Visa Signature is issued by U.S. Bank. U.S. Bank also offers great sign-up bonuses for its Checking/Savings accounts.
LATAM Visa Signature Card 20,000 Bonus Points Offer
Take advantage of the LATAM Visa Signature card’s introductory offer: 20,000 bonus Multiplus Points. My valuation puts these points at around $300 (more on that below).
To qualify, charge your first purchase to your card. There’s no spend amount or time limit to worry about.
What Are LATAM Multiplus Points Worth?
Like many other airline-branded cards, your points’ worth depends on how you use them. Our research with different booking scenarios revealed a wide range of values from $0.002 to $0.09 per point. On average, each Multiplus Point is worth around $0.015, so 20k points are about $300 in value.
The value of your points will vary greatly depending on the various booking details – destination, distance, time, flight class, etc. Flying to different cities within Brazil, for example, will generally cost less in USD, so your points are generally worth less. The cash cost goes up for international flights and for cabin upgrades over Economy. Your points tend to be worth more in these cases.
You can use your Multiplus Points for:
- Award flights with LATAM Airlines or a partner airline (more on that below)
- Cabin upgrades
- Hotel stays
- Car rentals
For the best value, redeem your Multiplus Points towards air travel with LATAM Airlines or one of its airline partners. LATAM is part of the oneworld airline alliance, so you can redeem your Multiplus Points for award flights on any oneworld member airline:
LATAM Visa Signature Card Top Features
Get 4,000 bonus points every year when you renew your membership. You’ll see the bonus awarded to your account 6 to 8 weeks after the annual fee is paid.
Receive a 20% discount every calendar year on your first LATAM Airlines purchase. This will automatically appear on your statement as “LATAM Airlines Discount.”
The maximum discount per year is $1,000.
Get 3 LATAM Airlines one-way upgrade coupons every year. To renew this benefit, you have to spend at least $15,000 each calendar year.
Receive a flight points bonus of 25% on every LATAM Airlines flight. For example, accrue 6,000 points and you’ll get 1,500 extra points. To renew this benefit, you have to spend at least $15,000 each calendar year.
If you fly to South America often, the LATAM Visa Signature Card is a worthy consideration. It offers double points for LATAM airfare, plus a handful of useful perks. But if you’re not going south of the border at least once a year, I suggest you look into another travel rewards card instead.
