For members who were unable to retain their Marriott Bonvoy elite status for 2023, they will only drop down one tier below their status from March 2023. See details below.
Soft Landing Details
In January 2023, Marriott Bonvoy will re-evaluate all elite members’ 2022 statuses as follows:
- Members who achieved their existing Elite status again in 2022 will have their current status renewed through February 2024.
- Members who did not requalify for their existing Elite status in 2022 will be offered one tier below their current status through February 2024. These members will see their new status starting in March 2023 and can enjoy their existing status through February 2024.
- Members who achieved a higher Elite level during 2022 already have a status expiration date of February 2024.

Bottom Line
This is great news for those who did not requalify for their Marriott Bonvoy status in 2023. You will only drop down one tier, as opposed to all the way down to Silver level. That means if you had Titanium status in 2022 and did not requalify for 2023, you will have Platinum status in 2023.
