How Klarna Works

Klarna is a simple and safe way to get what you want today and pay for it over time. Choose from the payment plans below:

There’s also a “Pay Now” option where you use your debit or credit card to pay for the full balance of your purchase through the Klarna app. This is like making an immediate purchase, but when you use the app, you’ll access price-drop notifications, exclusive deals, and other in-app content.

Klarna Features

Klarna has partnered with over 5,000 merchants in the United States, including popular retailers like Etsy, Foot Locker, GameStop, Macy’s and Sephora. You can also use the Klarna app to make purchases at any U.S. retailer that accepts debit and credit cards. This feature gives you more flexibility than the average point-of-sale app.

Klarna performs a soft credit check when you apply for an account. This will not impact your credit score. However, if you opt for the financing option, they will do a hard credit pull, which will show up as an inquiry on your credit report.

Klarna has a rewards program called Vibe. Earn one vibe (or rewards point) for every $1 you spend through the app. You can redeem your vibes for gift cards from Amazon, Best Buy, Sephora and other major retailers.

Klarna Fees

Klarna does not charge any annual fee or membership fee. If you make your monthly payments on time and in full with one of Klarna’s interest-free plans, you won’t have to pay any additional fees. If you miss a payment deadline, you’ll be charged a late fee. Plus, you’ll have to pay interest on late payments (19.99% on average).

There is no penalty for making payments early, or for paying off your balance in full before the final due date.
