I an a CPA and I am issuing a WARNING on the HSBC bonus checking account offer!!! If you have had a credit freeze, they will decline you –AFTER you have given them all your personal data! This is even for a checking account for a low balance of $1,500 where you would be bringing money to them and they are not doing anything like extending credit or overdraft services. Even worse they will not delete your personal data from their system!! I spent over 30 minutes on this but all they would say was they have an “auto purge” on new Applications every 60 days and it “should” be deleted then!. For the 750 premier bonus, the bonus is not credited to account until 8 weeks (2 months) after the 90 days (3 months). If the balance falls below the 100K after 90 days and before the additional 8 weeks, you will be charged $50 per month for a total of $100.
HSBC has a very unfriendly user web site. I spent 45 minutes with an advisor and they told me to just start over again. What a GREAT Bank for not helping a very detailed app. Be ready to tear your hair out because after you navigate 6 pages you still can not open an account as they do not have enough spaces to put in bank routing number. I rate this about 2 on a scale of 10 being the best. Save your time.
