Starting March 9th, 2023, American Express is launching a time-limited promotion that allows qualifying Card Members to earn more Membership Rewards points for referring new members and the new member also earns a higher welcome bonus for signing up. All of these offers end on June 7, 2023.
Offer Details
If an eligible Card Member successfully refers a friend who applies and gets approved for an account before June 7, 2023, both parties will earn extra Membership Reward points, above the normal referral & sign-up bonuses.
Please check your American Express login for the enhanced referral offer that benefits both the new card member and the referrer. The new cardmember bonus offer includes:
- Platinum Personal Card: Receive 150,000 Membership Rewards® Points and $200 statement credit. Earn the points after spending $6,000 on purchases with your new Card during the first 6 months of Card Membership, and get $200 back in statement credits on purchases during the first 3 months of Card Membership.
- Gold Card: Receive 90,000 Membership Rewards® Points and $200 statement credit. Earn the points after spending $4,000 on purchases with your new Card during the first 6 months of Card Membership, and get $200 back in statement credits on purchases during the first 3 months of Card Membership.
- Blue Cash Preferred: Earn $400 back and have the annual fee waived. Earn $300 back after spending $3,000 in purchases with your new Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership. Additionally, receive $100 back in statement credits on purchases during the first 3 months of Card Membership. The annual fee is waived during the first year.
Amex has also increased the maximum amount of referral bonuses targeted cardmembers can receive annually. The limit used to be, and still is for some members, 55,000 Membership Rewards points each year. For some members, that limit has risen to 100,000 points. Check your email for a message from Amex to see if you qualify, or enter your information onto the referral page to see if you’re eligible.
