How Sesame Works
Using Sesame’s system is easy and intuitive. First, pick what kind of doctor or specialist you need, then enter your location. Sesame will give you a selection of board-certified medical professionals in your area. You can click on each doctor’s profile to learn more about the practitioners. When you find one that’s a good fit, go ahead and book your appointment.
After your video or phone meeting, your provider will send your prescription (if any) to the pharmacy of your choice and refer you to a specialist (if needed). Please keep in mind, Sesame doctors cannot prescribe any controlled substances, like narcotics.
Sesame Pricing
Sesame does not charge any subscription or membership fees to access their services. The healthcare platform sets prices directly with doctors, instead of insurance companies, so every Sesame service is fair and affordable. Pricing, as well as appointment length, is set individually by each provider, depending on your medical issue or service needs. Expect to pay anywhere from around $25 for a 15-minute session to approximately $300 for a 60-minute meeting.
Appointment fees are due at the time of booking and are payable via VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Although Sesame does not accept insurance, some policies may provide reimbursement for Sesame receipts.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking for good healthcare without the hassle of insurance, Sesame could be your answer. The platform works with quality doctors at unbeatable prices, plus you get to choose your practitioner.
Please note, Sesame does not replace health insurance if you have it. You can use it as a complementary service for when you want to avoid high deductibles, or when your plan doesn’t cover the visit.
