American Express Gold card has increased the referral offer for some customers. Some people are seeing up to 30,000 points for referring new cardholders. New cardholders can sign up for any Amex card in the program.
Update 1/25/23: Some people are seeing an increased offer for cashback referrals, now $175 (regularly $75).
Update 12/6/22: More people are seeing the 30,000 points offer.
Update 10/22/22: Some people are seeing 25,000 or 30,000 points offers. Previously it was an increase to 20,000 for some referrers (prior to that most were offered 10,000 or 15,000)
Update 5/23/22: More people are getting increased bonus points.
Update 1/12/22: Some cardholders are getting 20,000 or 30,000 referral offers
About American Express Referral Program
Through the American Express referral program, any Amex cardholder can refer others to any other Amex card. The key is to refer from the card with the highest bonus, no matter which card your friend will sign up for. Therefore, American Express Gold members who were offered a 30,000 bonus, should refer from that card and the new member is free to sign up for any Amex cards in the program.
Bottom Line
If you received the higher referral offer, be sure to save the link. Apparently, when the bonus reverts back to the lower offer, your referral link for the higher bonuses is still valid.
