How to Earn the $300 Bonus
To earn the $300 Power Checking bonus:
- Open a new eligible Power Checking Account online.
- Make sure promo code MC300 is entered in the promo code field. The bank states that the code should be prefilled when applying through the promotional offer.
- Receive a combined total of at least $2,500 in eligible ACH direct deposits within 60 banking days of opening the account.
- Keep the account open and in good standing.
- The bank will credit the $300 bonus at 120 banking days from the account opening date.
An account with a sustained negative balance or a zero balance will not be considered in good standing for purposes of receiving the bonus.
Who Is Eligible?
The promotion is intended for customers opening a new Power Checking Account.
However, new customers who already have an existing checking account relationship with the bank are not eligible.
You must also have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number to receive the bonus.
The promotion is limited to one bonus per account and cannot be combined with another consumer deposit offer.
Power Checking $12 Monthly Fee
The Power Checking Account has a $12 monthly maintenance fee, but there are several ways to have it waived.
Complete any one of the following during the applicable statement cycle:
- Maintain a balance of at least $500 each day.
- Have at least $500 in qualifying monthly deposits reflected on your statement.
- Make at least 12 qualifying debit card purchases that post as point-of-sale transactions.
- Be age 60 or older.
Internal transfers from other FNBT/FCB or FHNB accounts, Internet Banking transfers, and bank refunds don’t count toward the $500 deposit requirement.
ATM transactions and person-to-person payments through third-party apps don’t count toward the 12 debit card purchase requirement.
When Will the $300 Bonus Post?
This promotion has a longer payout period than many checking bonuses.
You have the first 60 banking days after opening the account to receive $2,500 in qualifying direct deposits.
The $300 bonus is then credited at 120 banking days from the account opening date, provided the account remains open and in good standing.
Note that the bank uses banking days rather than calendar days, so the actual waiting period will be considerably longer than 120 calendar days.

Our Verdict
This is a decent $300 checking bonus, with a relatively manageable $2,500 total direct deposit requirement.
The biggest drawback is the long payout period. Even if you complete the $2,500 direct deposit requirement quickly, the bank doesn’t pay the bonus until 120 banking days after account opening.
There’s also a $12 monthly fee to watch out for. Fortunately, avoiding it should be relatively easy since one option is simply receiving $500 in qualifying deposits each statement cycle.
If you’re eligible and don’t mind keeping the account open for several months, the $300 reward is reasonable for the amount of direct deposit required.
Important Fine Print
The offer is valid from July 15, 2026 through September 15, 2026, although the bank reserves the right to modify or cancel the promotion.
The $300 bonus will be reported to the IRS. Customers without a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number aren’t eligible.
The account must remain open and in good standing when the bonus is credited. Accounts with a sustained negative balance or zero balance are ineligible.
The promotion cannot be combined with another consumer deposit offer and is limited to one bonus per account.
First National Bank Texas and First Convenience Bank are Member FDIC.
