If you bought an Apple MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro laptop between 2015 and 2019 and had your MacBook’s “Butterfly” keyboard fixed, you may be eligible to get up to $395 as part of a class action lawsuit. More details below.
Class Action Settlement Details
If you bought one of the following Apple MacBook products between 2015 and 2019 with a “Butterfly” keyboard, you are eligible to be a member of the Class Action Settlement.
- Apple MacBook
- MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro
The Settlement creates a $50 million fund to pay Settlement Class Members who had their MacBook’s “Butterfly” keyboard fixed. The Settlement covers two types of repairs: (1) a Topcase Replacement, in which the entire keyboard module is replaced, and (2) a Keycap Replacement, in which one or more keycaps are replaced.
If Apple’s records reflect you received two Topcase Replacements, you are a Group 1 Settlement Class Member. If you received a single Topcase Replacement or one or more Keycap Replacements, and you declare that the repair did not resolve your keyboard issues, you are a Group 2 or Group 3 Settlement Class Member. The amount of the settlement payment varies depending on whether you are a Group 1, Group 2, or Group 3 Settlement Class Member.
Here is the payout by group:
- Group 1 is eligible to receive $300 – $395.
- Group 2 is eligible to receive up to $125.
- Group 3 is eligible to receive up to $50.
File your claim by the deadline on March 6, 2023.
