Gift cards are becoming more and more popular over the holidays and special occasions.
One drawback could be that you’re receiving store specific gift cards that you’re not exactly a big fan of. Luckily, you’ve got options.
You can read my in-depth article on fun ways to exchange gift cards and even make money from them here.
To keep things simple, today there are plenty of online options to sell your unwanted gift cards, such as CardPool.com and Raise.com. You can always sell them on Ebay as well.
Exchanging Target Gift Cards
This year, Target has started a new trade-in program that lets you exchange various store gift cards for a Target gift card.
As you might imagine, you won’t get an even trade in terms of value. When I went to trade in a $100 Walmart gift card, I was given an $85 Target gift card in return.
While I could have gone online to sell the gift card, I just saved myself some time and hassle.
Check with your local Target to see if they’re participating in this new program.
Reports are saying that roughly 1,500 of the 1,800 Target locations are running the program year round.
