The TRIO Credit Card by Fifth Third Bank has an offer for $100 bonus cash when you spend $1,000 within the first 90 days. It’s not the best bonus out there, but it’s a decent one for a no-annual-fee card. See our list for more cash back credit cards such as the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card.
TRIO is a cash back card that offers bonus rewards on everyday spending categories, with 3% back at restaurants and 2% back on gas and at grocery and drug stores. Because the 2% categories are capped at $1,500 in combined spending every quarter, the TRIO card is a good option if you don’t spend too heavily on gas, grocery and drug store purchases.
Otherwise, you’ll want to consider a card with unlimited bonus rewards instead.

TRIO Credit Card $100 Bonus Cash Offer
Take advantage of the TRIO credit card’s $100 bonus cash offer. To qualify, charge at least $1,000 to your card within 90 days from opening your account.
Here are some ideas on meeting the spending requirement:
Earning TRIO Cash Back
The TRIO credit card offers bonus rewards on common spending categories:
- Unlimited 3% cash back at restaurants.
- 2% back on gas and at grocery and drug stores. Capped at up to $1,500 in combined spending per quarter.
And earn unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases.
If you take full advantage of the 2% category, you would earn a maximum of $120 annually for $6,000 of spending in the gas, grocery and drug store categories.
*Your rewards will expire three years from the date they were earned.
Redeeming TRIO Cash Back Rewards
Although advertised as a cash back card, you can also redeem your rewards in other ways, including:
- Gift cards
- Airline tickets
- Charitable donations
If you value simplicity, stick with cash redemptions in the form of statement credits or direct deposits into your Fifth Third bank account.
Trio Credit Card Cell Phone Protection
You’re eligible for the Fifth Third’s cell phone protection program if you pay your wireless phone bill with the TRIO card. Although that might sound like a good deal, the program details state:
- Protection is only supplemental coverage. You’ll get reimbursed for damage or theft that is not already covered by another insurance policy, like your renters or homeowners insurance.
- The program covers up to $200 per claim with a $50 deductible (maximum two claims in a 12-month period).
Most smartphones these days cost hundreds of dollars, so $200 won’t really cover a new phone. In comparison, Wells Fargo’s cell phone coverage pays up to $600 per claim with a $25 deductible. And it doesn’t go through your other insurance policies first.
The TRIO credit card is a good fit for light to moderate spenders who like to eat out. Besides its simple ongoing rewards, the TRIO card offers a modest sign-up bonus and doesn’t charge any annual or foreign transaction fees.
If you’re a heavy spender – especially in gas, groceries and drug stores – you’ll want to consider other cards with unlimited bonus rewards in those categories.
