The Avianca Vuela Visa® Card has an offer for 40,000 welcome bonus miles after the first purchase. We value that bonus at around $680. That’s a pretty good bonus, but the annual fee is a bit much at $149. Book flights with your miles here.
The airline isn’t as well-known in the United States, but it’s a household name in Central and South America. If you frequently fly to Latin American countries, give the Avianca Vuela card a look. Avianca is part of the Star Alliance group of airlines.
Avianca is now a transfer partner of the following major programs:
- American Express Membership Rewards (e.g. American Express® Gold Card, The Platinum Card® from American Express, and more.)
- Capital One (e.g. Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Spark Miles for Business)
- Citi ThankYou Rewards (e.g. Citi Rewards+®, Citi Premier®, Citi Prestige®)
- Marriott Bonvoy (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card)
Aside from earning LifeMiles with the Avianca Vida card, you can transfer rewards from the above programs to your LifeMiles account. This allows for a multi-card strategy if LifeMiles are of great use to you. Also, you can choose to earn LifeMiles with any of the Star Alliance airlines (see the list down below).
Avianca Vuela Card 40,000 Bonus LifeMiles Offer
Take advantage of the Avianca Vuela card’s 40,000 bonus LifeMiles offer. We value 40k miles around $680 (more on this below), which is a pretty good bonus offer. Especially when you take into account the card’s $149 annual fee.
That said, it’s super easy to pocket the bonus. You’ll earn it after the card’s first use.
What Are Avianca LifeMiles Worth?
Like many other airline-branded credit cards, your miles’ worth depends on how you use them. On average, each Avianca LifeMile is worth $0.017. That’s a great value considering the average across different rewards cards is just $0.01 per point.
You can use your Avianca LifeMiles for:
- Avianca or partner-operated flights
- Seat upgrades
- Extra baggage
- Avianca VIP lounge access
- Hotel stays
- Car rentals
To maximize the value of your rewards, use your LifeMiles to cover the cost of airfare with Avianca or within the Star Alliance. Keep in mind, the value of miles vary greatly and depend on many factors. Like when you fly, flight distance, fare class and demand.
Redeeming your LifeMiles for anything other than flights will devalue your rewards to below $0.01 per mile.
The Avianca Vuela Visa® card has some attractive features, but it’s likely not the best airline-branded card on the market. But, it’s certainly one of the best options for frequent flyers to Latin America who will benefit greatly with earning LifeMiles.
If you don’t fly to Latin America often, you’ll probably find better value with a general travel rewards card. Check out a few options below.
