According to a 2019 report by Kampground of America, households that went camping reached an all-time high of 78.8 million in 2018. Since people are now looking for safer ways to travel, that number has grown exponentially.
For those who don’t typically do much hiking or camping, investing in new equipment – tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, hiking boots and other essentials – doesn’t make much sense. Others live in the city and lack the space to store everything.
Arrive, an online company that rents camping, outdoor and snow sports equipment, makes it easy to venture into nature as a new or occasional camper and for city dwellers. Simply order online, and they’ll deliver everything you need to your home or your destination. For more on Arrive and their referral offer, keep reading.

Arrive Outdoors Equipment & Apparel
Arrive partners directly with premium outdoor gear and apparel brands, like Marmot and Deuter, and offers their merchandise for rent, such as tents, trekking poles and snowshoes, as well as entire camping kits and clothing sets for skiing. The most popular rental is the Camping Set for Two, which comes with a tent, two sleeping bags and pads, headlamps, a lantern, cooler, stove and pot, and a couple of chairs.
The reservation process is simple. Order what you need – a la carte or entire sets – from the website, and it’ll be delivered to your home, hotel or any FedEx location near you. At the end of your trip, ship it back free using the provided return label. Arrive recommends ordering your gear a week in advance, and they’ll deliver it to you by 8pm the evening before your first rental day.
Arrive Outdoors Pricing
Arrive prices depend on the season, the number of rental days and gear popularity. Small items, like trekking poles and hiking boots, go for as low as $1 per day. Full sets of skiing clothes cost upwards of $80 per day during popular seasons. On average, the cost of equipment for the weekend is about 10% of the retail price of the gear.
I rented the Backpacking Set for Two in early August and paid $243 (plus $19.99 shipping) for a tent, two backpacks, two sleeping bags, two sleeping pads, a stove, cooking pans and two headlamps. The retail value of this set is $1,618.
Arrive Outdoors COVID-19 Policies
Arrive has applied new COVID-19 policies, including:
- Gear and apparel are cleaned thoroughly and treated with CDC-recommended solutions.
- All apparel is washed with a commercial launder system and treated with laundry additives to fight viruses and bacteria.
- All staff who handle gear or shipments are required to wear disposable gloves at all times and use sanitizer frequently.
- All product surfaces are cleaned with CDC-recommended disinfectants.
Arrive is very useful if you don’t have a lot of storage space, if you only occasionally go camping, or if you are new to outdoor excursions and you want to try out equipment before making big purchases.
That said, if you’re a frequent camper or gear geek, you’ll be better off investing in your own equipment.
